design technology
Through Design and Technology we aim to encourage our children to be imaginative and innovative, in order to prepare them to participate in our rapidly changing world. We encourage creative thinking and problem solving, enabling our children to consider how to make positive changes to their way of life. In Design and Technology children have the opportunity to:
explore and investigate designs that already exist,
develop and adapt design ideas, both independently and in a group,
develop design and making skills, knowledge and understanding to the best of each child’s ability,
talk about how things work, and to draw and model their ideas,
use and select a range of tool, materials and components in order to make a finished product,
explore food and cooking techniques along with healthy eating and environmental issues within food production,
explore technical processes, products and their manufacture,
Find enjoyment, satisfaction and purpose in the process of designing and making.
We aim to encourage our children to become innovators, to explore and experiment, reflecting upon Design and Technology in the past and present and its uses and impacts.
