Intent
Teaching Science at Northam Federation is an exciting opportunity to learn about the world, contextualising knowledge through memorable, active and enjoyable experiences. Children should be taught a balanced Science curriculum, equally prioritising the skills and knowledge identified in the National Curriculum through a variety of contexts that suitably link in a broad and balanced thematic curriculum.
Children are encouraged to be enthusiastic, curious and inquisitive about their science learning and frequently ask and answer ‘Big Questions’ that connect with the real world. They will use this ‘scientific’ questioning across the whole curriculum and become ‘Life-long learners’.
Pupils should take pride in presenting their learning/findings and can eloquently explain their scientific understanding in varying degrees relevant to their age and ability.
